Homelife Properties operate a fair use policy on any property which has bills included. If your property has the bills included, or if you are looking for a property we have advertised and it states bills included, this page explained how this is calculated.
The fair use policy allows the total use of £15 per person, per week (£65 per month). This £15 is allocated towards electric, gas, water and sewage. If a tenant within one of our properties uses more than this amount, Homelife Properties reserves the right to reclaim any outstanding amounts from the tenant. Homelife Properties does not allow the use of additional electric heaters if you have bills included.
How to reduce your Utility usage.
- Install Energy efficient light bulbs and switch off the lights when they are not in use.
- Replace any appliances with 'A' rated equivalent
- Do not fill the kettle up, only boil enough water for what you need.
- Be conservative when using a shower, do not spend too long in the shower.
- Install thick curtains and close them when it gets dark to hold in any heat.
- If the property has night storage heaters, allow them to heat up at night time and open them during the day.
- Place a lid on saucepans when boiling water.
- Turn off all electrical equipment when not in use, do not leave it on standby.
- Consider using a microwave instead of an oven. If you use the oven, leave the door open after use to heat your property.
- Use the washing machine on a 30 degree setting.
- If possible, place a draught excluder at the bottom of your doors to keep the heat in.
